The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is the Government’s independent regulator of all health and social care services in England. Their role is to register health and social care providers and to inspect whether or not standards are being met.

They then rate each service as either Inadequate, Requires Improvement, Good or Outstanding based on five core criteria, which are;

  • Safe
  • Effective
  • Caring
  • Responsive
  • Well-lead

Sanctuary Lodge was inspected under this new rating structure in April 2019 and they have been rated as GOOD overall.

According to the CQC, Sanctuary Lodge achieved this rating because “The environment was safe, clean well equipped, well furnished,
well maintained and fit for purpose. “The report also notes that “Clients felt supported in their recovery and were positive about the staff and managers at the service; said they were involved in planning their treatment and they felt the therapeutic programme was excellent.”

“Staff treated clients with compassion and kindness. They respected clients’ privacy and dignity, and supported their individual needs.”(Care Quality Commission)
