Rehab in Berkshire
Located west of London, Berkshire is a county in England’s south east. There’s a good variety of addiction treatment options in the county, so if you want help, you should be able to find what you need without having to travel far. Whether you’re looking for one-to-one counselling services, or addiction support groups, there are a number of options to explore. It starts with knowing exactly what your needs are, and then determining which programmes or services are ideal for you.
For you to be able to successfully determine the appropriate addiction treatment option for you, you need to understand the nature of your addiction first. In order to do that, an initial assessment is necessary, either at your GP’s office or with an addiction treatment specialist. There, you can find out whether it’s safe enough for you to detox on an outpatient basis, or whether you have a co-occurring condition that requires specialised care.
In this guide, you’ll learn what options are available in and around Berkshire for addiction treatment. Some of these options will be adequate if your addiction is not severe, or they can serve as part of your aftercare programme after you have completed treatment in a private rehab facility like Sanctuary Lodge. Read on to discover what your treatment options are.

The Pros and Cons of Private Rehab
The Pros
- Specialist care: At a private rehab facility, your chances of getting specialist care for dual diagnosis and co-dependency is greater.
- Lower staff-to-patient ratio: With fewer patients to attend to, you can expect the treatment team to be in a better position to focus on getting to the root of your addiction, and ensuring that you recover successfully.
- Better amenities: At a private rehab, you can have nearly any kind of amenity you like. Depending on where you go, you might be able to choose between having a private room and a shared room. You might also be able to enjoy amenities such as gym passes and swimming pool access, among others.
- More variety of treatment and therapy types: At a private rehab, you’re more likely to have a wider range of options regarding treatment approaches and therapy types you can take advantage of. For instance, there might be art and music therapy, or acupuncture and meditation.
The Cons
- Cost: Private rehab is generally expensive, however, it is worth it. You might not necessarily have to spend several weeks or months in rehab, as it could be sufficient for you to spend a week or two in inpatient detox, while you undergo the rest of your treatment on an outpatient basis, which is cheaper.
- Time: Inpatient rehab requires that you live in the facility for the duration of treatment, but this can be a burden if you have responsibilities at work or school that you cannot leave for long. You can also get around this by getting outpatient treatment.
- Unfamiliarity: It might seem like a disadvantage that you’re going away from home to unfamiliar surroundings in order to get treatment, but this can actually be an advantage. Sometimes, taking a break from your immediate environment can turn out to be highly beneficial for your recovery.
How Much Does Rehab Cost in Berkshire?
The cost of rehab in Berkshire varies widely. There are relatively affordable rehabs that cost between £800 and £1,500 per week. These rehabs tend to offer basic amenities, and the most essential addiction treatment options. These facilities might not offer specialist treatments such as dual diagnosis, but, at least, you can get the medical detox or therapy that you need.
There are luxury rehabs that charge as much as £8,000 to £12,000 per week. Some of these rehabs are particularly interested in executives and celebrities, who would rather keep their addictions away from the public eye. They tend to offer some of the best luxury amenities you can find anywhere, ranging from private suites to spa treatments.
In between these extremes, are rehabs that take the middle ground. Many of these rehabs, like ours, are able to balance affordability and premium quality care by providing a variety of therapy and treatment options delivered in comfortable facilities. Also, there may be extras like gym passes and swimming pool access, and more. Always more important than price is whether or not the facility can take care of your addiction.

How to Choose a Recovery Programme
Choosing the right recovery programme starts with knowing exactly what you need. In order to achieve that, you’ll need to get a diagnosis from your GP, or an addiction treatment specialist. A diagnosis should tell you whether you have a co-occurring condition, and whether it is safe to detox on an outpatient basis. Once you have an idea what you need, there are a number of questions that need to be answered before you select a programme. These include:
- Is an inpatient or outpatient arrangement better?
- Does the treatment centre have specialists who can handle your type of addiction?
- How far away from home would you be willing to go for treatment?
- Does your insurance cover the treatment and does the treatment centre accept insurance?
- What therapy types are available?
- Does the programme take a secular approach or a religious one?

How Can I Get To and From Berkshire?
Berkshire is as close as it gets to the capital city. If you’re coming in from a different country, consider landing at Heathrow Airport, which is only 30 minutes from Reading. If you take the train, it’s best to stop at Reading West, which is close to the city centre, meaning there’s a good number of addiction support services around.
From the Reading West station, you can get to Source on 16 North Street in about 7 minutes, and IRiS Partnership in about 3 minutes.
